The Role: AI is reshaping how organisations build, ship, and scale digital products and APIs are the connective tissue that makes it possible. As an Engineering Manager, you will lead engineering teams building the next generation of API infrastructure. You will mentor engineers and foster a collaborative environment rooted in our core values and technical best practices. You will partner with Product, Architecture, and Support teams to translate product vision into scalable, high-performance architecture.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Mentor & Scale: Lead and grow high-performing engineering teams, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous professional growth.
- Bridge Potential: Proactively identify skill gaps and curate coaching/training opportunities to elevate individual and collective technical excellence.
- Mission Alignment: Synchronise team objectives with broader product and enterprise goals to ensure every sprint delivers tangible business value.
- Project Ownership: Drive the end-to-end execution of complex engineering projects, ensuring on-time delivery without compromising on high-quality standards.
- Risk Management: Proactively identify and mitigate bottlenecks, resource constraints, and technical risks before they impact delivery.
- Future-Proof Architecture: Set the technical direction for scalable, maintainable software while enforcing rigorous coding standards and best practices.
- AI-Augmented Engineering: Lead the adoption of AI-assisted development—leveraging coding assistants, automated testing, and intelligent workflows to 10x team efficiency.
- Security & Performance: Maintain a relentless focus on platform security, performance, and compliance, ensuring a "zero-defect" mindset across the lifecycle.

Essential Skills:
- 10+ years of engineering leadership experience, with at least 3 years successfully managing teams of 8+ engineers in a high-growth environment.
- Strong background in modern software development practices, tools, and languages (e.g., Java, JavaScript, Kubernetes, APIs).
- 5+ years of Java Development experience.
- Experience and understanding of architecture principles across infrastructure platforms, API, security, data, integration, and application layers.
- Experience with Agile methodologies and tools like Jira or equivalent.
- Demonstrated ability to handle ambiguity, prioritise work, and resolve complex technical and organisational challenges.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools and practices (e.g., GitHub Copilot, AI code review, automated testing).
- Highly motivated team player with excellent social, coordination and communication skills.
