Build something that actually matters. Run the numbers that shape real decisions.
We0e0re working with a well-established retail business in Exeter that has grown steadily and sensibly, not through hype, but through doing the fundamentals properly.
They0re now looking for a Finance Manager who wants to step into a hands-on role at the heart of the business. This isn0t a βkeep the lights onβ finance role. It0s about improving how the business understands performance, controls cash, and makes commercial decisions.
The role
You0ll take ownership of the day-to-day finance function, working closely with the senior team and giving them the clarity they need to run the business well.
Your remit will include:
- Monthly management accounts and board-ready reporting
- Budgeting, forecasting and cashflow management
- Improving stock, margin and cost visibility
- Owning the relationship with external accountants
- Tightening processes without creating unnecessary bureaucracy
- Being a commercial sounding board, not just a reporter of numbers
What they0re looking for
This will suit someone who:
- Has solid experience in SME or owner-managed environments
- Is comfortable being hands-on and accountable
- Can challenge constructively and communicate clearly
- Wants to influence how a business is run, not just record what happened
You don0t need to be flashy. You do need to be dependable, commercially switched-on, and able to improve things.
Why this role?
Because you0ll actually be listened to.
Because your work will directly shape decisions.
Because this is a business that values strong finance, not just compliance.
If you0re a Finance Manager who enjoys being close to the action and adding genuine value, this is worth a conversation.
