A high-growth, product-led tech scale-up is looking for a hands-on IT & Security Engineer to take real ownership of internal IT and security foundations - not just keep the lights on, but shape how things work as the company scales. This is a true individual contributor role where you’ll be the go-to person for endpoint security, identity, device management, and day-to-day IT operations.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Owning endpoint security across the fleet (EDR, alert triage, hardening), with the freedom to improve and tune rather than simply monitor.
- Running and improving MDM for a predominantly Mac/iOS environment (with some Windows and Android), defining standards and best practice.
- Designing and managing secure Apple Business Manager provisioning, including improving existing device hygiene.
- Helping implement an Identity Provider (SSO/MFA) as a greenfield project, with real input into tooling and approach.
- Owning joiner/mover/leaver processes and SaaS access controls, ensuring security remains friction-light.
- Acting as the main point of contact for internal IT and access issues.
- Automating where possible and continuously improving the security posture as the business grows.
- Collaborating closely with engineering and leadership on security initiatives, not working in a silo.
What They’re Looking For
- Strong hands-on experience with MDM (Jamf, Intune, Miradore, Kandji, etc.).
- Experience with endpoint security tooling (CrowdStrike, Defender, Carbon Black, etc.).
- Familiarity with IdP / SSO platforms (Okta, Azure AD, Google, etc.).
- Comfortable with scripting and automation (ideally TypeScript).
- Background in a startup, scale-up, or MSP environment where you’ve owned a broad IT/security remit.
- Someone confident acting as the primary IT & security owner day to day, with guidance and backing from senior tech leadership.
Why This Role?
- Full ownership of IT & security foundations - you set direction, not just follow process.
- Greenfield initiatives (IdP, SIEM, Apple provisioning) rather than untangling legacy mess.
- Remote-first, high-trust culture with flexibility and minimal bureaucracy.
- A genuinely low-ego environment with strong retention and thoughtful hiring.
- Room to grow the role into automation, security engineering, or adjacent technical areas over time.
Location: UK-based, fully remote (optional London office access).
