- Overview
We're seeking an experienced Infrastructure Manager to oversee day-to-day infrastructure operations and act as the senior technical escalation point, helping maintain secure, resilient and reliable services across a Microsoft cloud and on-premise estate.
This is a hands‑on operational role with responsibility for coordinating engineers, suppliers and incidents while supporting the Head of Operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of four Technical Engineers.
- Own day‑to‑day infrastructure operations and service availability.
- Act as the senior technical escalation point for complex issues.
- Coordinate major incidents and problem management.
- Oversee operational change, patching and vulnerability remediation.
- Manage backup, recovery and service continuity activities.
- Coordinate third‑party suppliers including managed services and SOC providers.
- Support the transition of new services into live operation.
- Provide clear operational updates and risk advice to senior management.
- Technical Environment
Experience with most of the following is expected
- Windows Server, Hyper‑V
- End‑user computing
- Microsoft Teams telephony
- Several years leading infrastructure or IT operations teams.
- Strong hands‑on Microsoft infrastructure experience across cloud and on‑premise environments.
- Experience managing major incidents and technical escalations.
- Good understanding of ITIL service management.
- Experience managing suppliers and outsourced support partners.
- Strong troubleshooting and decision‑making skills.
- Excellent communication with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Microsoft certifications.
- Experience within local government or the public sector.
- Experience with Cyber Essentials or ISO 27001.
- Power Shell or scripting knowledge.
