A leading Housing Association is embarking on an exciting data transformation journey and is looking to appoint a Data Engineering Manager to help shape and lead the future of its data function.
You will play a key role in developing the organisation's data engineering capability, establishing best practice and creating the foundations that enable data to drive better services for customers and communities. This role combines strategic leadership with technical credibility. You will lead a team of Data Engineers while helping define the vision, governance frameworks and roadmap that underpin a modern, data-driven organisation.
The Role
You will take responsibility for a growing Data Engineering team and as the team's leader, you will be instrumental in shaping its structure, capability and future direction. Working closely with stakeholders across the business, you will champion data as a strategic asset, helping colleagues understand how data can improve decision-making, efficiency and customer outcomes. Approximately 20-30% of the role will remain hands-on, with the remainder focused on leadership, strategy, governance and stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor and develop a team of Data Engineers
- Define and implement robust data governance frameworks, policies and standards
- Establish best practice across data engineering and data management
- Develop and deliver a roadmap of data initiatives and projects
- Collaborate with senior stakeholders to promote the value of data across the organisation
- Drive improvements in data quality, reliability and accessibility
- Support and evolve the existing Azure data platform
- Balance operational delivery with longer-term strategic planning
