We are currently supporting a leading insurance organisation in the search for a Marine Claims Handler to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a claims professional to develop their expertise across marine classes.
As a Marine Claims Handler, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of marine claims, ensuring they are handled efficiently, fairly, and in line with internal guidelines and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Manage, assess, and adjust assigned marine claims, ensuring accurate coverage analysis and appropriate reserving.
- Proactively manage claim files, ensuring all documentation is up to date, well organised, and regularly reviewed.
- Handle claims in a timely, fair, and professional manner in line with best practice and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with senior claims handlers and management on more complex or significant losses.
- Maintain clear and effective communication with underwriting teams, ensuring key claim developments and trends are shared.
- Ensure large losses are escalated appropriately, with timely reporting.
- Liaise with brokers, policyholders, and other stakeholders to deliver a high level of service.
- Work cross-functionally with departments such as underwriting, finance, actuarial, and reinsurance.
- Support on reinsurance related matters as needed.
- Ensure full compliance with relevant regulatory frameworks and claims handling standards.
- Experience handling marine claims within the insurance market.
- Strong understanding of general insurance principles.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Working knowledge of relevant systems (e.g. ECF) is advantageous.
- Familiarity with UK regulatory frameworks (including FCA/PRA and Lloyd’s standards).
- A proactive approach to learning and professional development (CII progression beneficial).
- You must have Marine Claims experience to be considered for this opportunity.
