The Role
You’ll take ownership of complex casualty claims, handling large loss cases from investigation through to negotiation and settlement, with a strong focus on technical delivery and stakeholder management. Alongside this, you’ll play a key role in shaping the wider claims function acting as a technical referral point, mentoring colleagues and contributing to continuous improvement across the team. You’ll work closely with underwriting, risk and senior claims leadership, giving you real visibility across the business and the opportunity to influence how claims are handled at a strategic level.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing a portfolio of large loss casualty claims from first notification through to settlement
- Driving effective investigation strategies and delivering strong commercial outcomes
- Acting as a technical and strategic referral point for the wider casualty team
- Supporting leadership on complex cases and contributing to large loss forums
- Building strong relationships with brokers, policyholders, adjusters, reinsurers and suppliers
- Working collaboratively with underwriting and risk teams to deliver joined-up solutions
- Mentoring and developing more junior team members
- Identifying trends, legal developments and areas for improvement across the claims function

Skills Required
- A minimum of 4 years’ experience handling complex casualty claims plus a total of 6-8 years minimum in a claims capacity
- Strong technical capability combined with a commercial mindset
