Shape Strategy. Deliver Change. Build Your Future in PMO.

If you're a Project Manager who thrives on variety, enjoys solving complex challenges, and is starting to think about a future in PMO, portfolio, or strategic delivery, this role offers a rare opportunity to accelerate that journey.

We're creating this role to address a critical delivery gap at the heart of a major transformation agenda. You won't just be delivering projects, you'll be stepping into a highly visible position where your work directly enables strategic decision-making at senior level.

Why This Role Stands Out

  • Variety Across Complex Projects

This is not a 'one-project' role. You'll lead multiple, impactful initiatives at the same time, from operational transformation to regulatory change on HESA/Ofs. Current priorities include:

    • A major timetabling transformation programme
    • Implementation of a debt management system
    • Faculty-wide change initiatives requiring sensitive stakeholder engagement
    • Regulatory and compliance projects tied to sector requirements

Every project is different. You'll constantly switch context, solve new problems, and build a broad delivery portfolio.

  • A Direct Route into PMO & Portfolio-Level Thinking

You would be working closely with the Head of PMO, sitting in the Strategy Delivery Office, giving you exposure beyond pure delivery:

    • Visibility of the wider project portfolio
    • Insight into governance, prioritisation, and strategic alignment
    • Opportunities to contribute to portfolio oversight and reporting

If you're looking to move toward a PMO, Portfolio Manager, or strategic delivery leadership role, this is the kind of experience that gets you there faster.

  • High Visibility

You'll work directly with senior stakeholders, including executive leadership, influencing decisions that shape the organisation. This is a role where:

    • Your work feeds into steering groups and strategic forums
    • You're trusted to own delivery end-to-end
    • You’ll quickly become a go-to person for getting things done

We're looking for someone who can 'grab it and get on with it.' You'll be given:

    • Space to operate independently
    • Responsibility to lead without constant oversight
    • The chance to define how projects are delivered

If you prefer ownership over micromanagement, you'll thrive here. It's not easy but it's meaningful, and it will stretch you in all the right ways.

What We're Looking For

  • An experienced generalist Project Manager (not overly technical)
  • Comfortable managing multiple complex projects simultaneously
  • Strong stakeholder management, especially with resistant or senior audiences
  • A self-starter who works independently and takes ownership
  • Someone who enjoys variety, pace, and problem-solving
  • Interest in developing toward PMO, portfolio, or strategic roles
  • Experience in higher education or a P3O / portfolio environment is a bonus but not essential.

If you're a Project Manager who gets bored doing the same thing every day, wants exposure beyond delivery into strategy and portfolio thinking, and enjoys working across diverse, complex challenges...this is the kind of role that can redefine your next career step.
