Under general direction, responsible for all phases of large‑scale assigned process or manufacturing improvement projects, ensuring the successful conclusion of all phases within an appropriate time and at appropriate cost. Implements process improvements to meet quality standards, designs and conducts feasibility studies, and solves problems. Creates necessary documentation and aids in communication to personnel. May serve as a resource to other engineers and coordinate all work within the scope of assigned projects. Role typically requires between 5 and 8 years of experience.
The Manufacturing Engineer partners with Product Development and R&D to launch new products and integrate tooling, equipment, and systems into production, ensuring processes are capable, repeatable, and optimized for manufacturability. It supports ongoing operations through process monitoring, troubleshooting, continuous improvement initiatives, capital project scoping, and collaboration with Quality, Maintenance, and vendors to improve safety, yield, and overall performance.
Duties:- Work with product development to introduce new products, processes, equipment and systems.
- Ensure that all equipment and production standards are capable and repeatable for manufacturing to launch.
- Design and integrate new tooling, systems and equipment into production lines.
- Maintain department specifications and SOP’s as changes and improvements are made.
- Maintain existing tooling and procedures and make recommendations regarding repairs and upgrades.
- Monitor processes to include data collection, analysis, and generate required reports and corresponding action plans to address identified issues.
- Troubleshoot products, process or equipment issues.
- Provide operator assistance and training.
- Coordinate with outside contractors regarding equipment issues.
- Provide Engineering support for lean manufacturing programs/events, maintenance, cell layouts, ideas generated from our Continuous Improvement Program, etc.
- Develop and implement yearly continuous improvement activities that result in improved KPI’s – i.e. safer environment, first pass yield, reduced cost, etc.
- Provide software support for all equipment.
- Make recommendations on part design for manufacturability and recommend improvements in design or part replacement.
- Support Quality Assurance in the dispositioning of Process Change Notices, Non-Conformance Reports, and Vendor Action or Non-Conformance Notifications.
- Some vendor contact may be required.
- Support Research and Development in the design and development of new or newly configured products.
- Scope large projects and generate Authority for Expenditure (AFE’s) for capital expenditures as needed.
- Bachelor of Science in an Engineering Discipline or five years of relevant experience.
- Experience in implementation of Lean manufacturing principles.
- Filter manufacturing experience (particularly meltblown filtration) is strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of Autocad and Solidworks.
- Understanding of current process controls software.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Self‑motivated.
- Strong communication skills.
- Efficient knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Extremely organized and effective at time management.
- Displays mechanical and electrical aptitude for equipment operation and troubleshooting.
- Ability to work extended hours as business needs dictate.
