Are you an experienced CNC Setter looking for a stable position with excellent development opportunities? Our client is a well-established manufacturing business looking for a motivated CNC Setter to join its production team in Stockport. You will be responsible for setting and operating CNC machinery, producing accurate components and ensuring consistently high standards of quality and efficiency.
Suitable applicants will have previous CNC setting and operating experience, ideally using Fanuc controls, alongside the ability to interpret engineering drawings and make the necessary tooling and offset adjustments. Job Description
- Set and operate CNC turning machinery.
- Install and set tooling, workholding equipment and fixtures.
- Input and adjust tool geometry and wear offsets.
- Complete routine tool changes to maintain quality and production efficiency.
- Work accurately from engineering drawings, specifications and production documentation.
- Identify and resolve machining issues within agreed parameters.
- Record setting adjustments and process changes accurately.
- Help identify ways to reduce downtime and improve manufacturing processes.
- Maintain a clean, safe and well-organised working environment.
- Support wider production and continuous improvement activities when required.
Person Specification
- Previous experience setting and operating CNC machinery within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience using Fanuc controls is strongly preferred.
- An NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds qualification or equivalent experience in mechanical engineering, machining or manufacturing.
- The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Good practical skills, manual dexterity and attention to detail.
- A strong understanding of quality standards and safe working practices.
- Basic CNC programming knowledge would be advantageous but is not essential.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise your workload.
- A positive attitude and willingness to continue learning.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a wider production team.
This is a full-time, permanent opportunity offering a salary of £43,200 inclusive of shift allowance. You will rotate weekly between the 6.00am–2.00pm and 2.00pm–10.00pm shifts, with an early finish every Friday.
