Are you an experienced Fire & Security Engineer with strong CCTV, intruder and access control knowledge, looking for a well-paid regional role with varied technical work? Our client is recruiting additional engineers to support customers across the South East, with opportunities available for candidates based around Stevenage, Cambridge, Milton Keynes and Northampton. You will work across a varied portfolio of commercial, education and infrastructure sites, carrying out planned maintenance, reactive repairs, fault-finding, small works and occasional installation activity.
The role requires a strong grounding in electronic security systems, particularly IP CCTV, intruder alarms, access control and door entry. You will also need practical fire alarm experience and the confidence to diagnose faults, carry out repairs and complete servicing work independently. This would suit a capable field engineer who enjoys technical variety, takes pride in delivering a professional service and is comfortable managing their own regional workload.
Duties will include:
- Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across fire and electronic security systems
- Servicing and repairing IP and analogue CCTV, intruder alarms, access control and door entry equipment
- Fault-finding across control panels, networks, devices, circuits and associated system components
- Maintaining, testing and repairing fire alarm systems across a range of customer sites
- Completing small works, system alterations, upgrades and minor installation projects
- Liaising with customers, facilities teams and site contacts regarding faults, repairs and recommended works
- Producing accurate service reports, job sheets, risk assessments and other technical documentation
- Managing van stock, tools, test equipment and replacement parts
- Supporting work on gates, barriers, disabled refuge or nurse call systems where required
- Participating in an out-of-hours call-out rota, currently approximately one week in twelve
Person Specification
- Previous experience as a Fire & Security Engineer, Security Systems Engineer or Multi-Skilled Engineer
- Strong practical knowledge of CCTV, intruder alarms, access control and door entry systems
- Experience working with IP-based CCTV systems and associated networking
- Proven ability to service, fault-find and repair fire alarm systems
- Experience with manufacturers such as Hikvision, Dahua, Galaxy, Texecom, Paxton, PAC, Videx, Gent, Advanced, Notifier, Morley or C-tec
- The ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues without close supervision
- Good knowledge of health and safety requirements and safe site working practices
- Strong customer-facing communication skills and a professional approach
- The ability to organise a mobile workload and travel throughout an allocated regional area
- A full UK driving licence
Salary and Benefits
The role offers a basic rate of £20–£24 per hour, equivalent to approximately £(phone number removed) per annum, depending on experience. Travel is paid after the first 30 minutes each way. Additional earning opportunities include:
- Overtime paid at 1.5 times the standard rate during evenings
- Late shifts and weekend work paid at double time
