Are you a Gates Engineer who enjoys variety, autonomy and working within a well-planned regional patch? Would a role based out of Slough, covering a broad but sensible West London and Thames Valley territory, suit the way you like to work?
Our client is looking to recruit an experienced Gates Engineer to support a busy and established customer base across West London and the surrounding areas. This role has been created to strengthen regional coverage and offers a clearly defined patch spanning Luton to Guildford, across to Reading and throughout West London. The focus is firmly on gates, with exposure to barriers and access systems, while any background in automatic or industrial doors would be a welcome bonus.
You will be trusted to manage your own workload, supported by smart scheduling, realistic planning and systems designed to minimise wasted travel time. This is a role for a capable, hands-on engineer who takes pride in their work and values clarity, structure and good earning potential.
Job Description
- Install, service and maintain a range of automatic gate systems across commercial sites.
- Carry out fault diagnosis, repairs and corrective works efficiently and safely.
- Work on barrier systems and associated control equipment where required.
- Attend customer sites across West London and the Thames Valley, delivering a professional service.
- Complete job documentation, RAMS and service reports accurately.
- Maintain company vehicle, tools and stock levels to a high standard.
- Participate in a 1-in-12 out-of-hours call-out rota.
Person Specification
Essential:
- Strong experience with automatic gates, including servicing, maintenance and repairs.
- Confident fault-finding skills and a practical, solutions-focused mindset.
- Experience working independently in a field-based engineering role.
- Good understanding of health & safety and safe systems of work.
- Strong customer-facing skills and clear communication.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable:
- Experience with barriers, access control or perimeter security systems.
- Exposure to automatic or industrial doors.
- Relevant industry qualifications (DHF, ADSA or equivalent).
- Experience working across multi-site or high-traffic environments.
Salary, Package & Benefits
- £22-£24 per hour (£45,000-£50,000 basic) based on a 40-hour week, paid door-to-door.
- Overtime paid at enhanced rates: 1.5x evenings, 2x weekends and overnights.
- £250 call-out payment for each week on the rota (1 in 12).
