Are you an experienced Maintenance Engineer looking for a well-paid, site-based role with varied machinery, regular overtime and a choice of shift patterns? Our client is an established manufacturing business with a substantial production facility in Bredbury. Due to continued investment in its engineering function, it is recruiting Maintenance Engineers to support the reliability, safety and performance of its manufacturing equipment. These positions offer a varied workload across mechanical and electrical maintenance, combining planned servicing, reactive fault-finding and improvement projects. You will work on a broad range of production machinery rather than being limited to one particular process or type of equipment.
Available Shift Patterns:
- Rotating daytime shifts 06:00–14:00 14:00–22:00 Monday to Friday (Rotating on a weekly basis)
- Fixed night shift 22:00–06:00 Monday to Thursday (Fridays off)
Job Description:
Working as part of the site maintenance team, your responsibilities will include:
- Completing planned preventative maintenance to agreed schedules
- Responding to equipment breakdowns and restoring machinery with minimal disruption to production
- Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults and carrying out effective repairs
- Maintaining equipment such as CNC machinery, conveyors and automated production systems
- Working with hydraulic and pneumatic systems, motors, pumps, drives and gearboxes
- Supporting the maintenance and fault-finding of PLC-controlled equipment and robotics
- Identifying recurring faults and recommending longer-term improvements
- Contributing to engineering projects and machinery upgrades
- Helping to improve equipment reliability, efficiency and overall performance
- Recording completed maintenance work and providing clear handovers
- Ensuring all work is completed safely and in line with site procedures
- Providing practical engineering support to production colleagues when required
Person Specification:
We are looking for an engineer who can demonstrate:
- Previous maintenance engineering experience within a manufacturing, production or industrial environment
- A recognised mechanical, electrical or multi-skilled engineering apprenticeship
- Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding ability
- Practical experience of hydraulics and pneumatics
- The ability to diagnose problems independently and work effectively under pressure
- A proactive and methodical approach to repairs and maintenance
- Good awareness of engineering health and safety requirements
- The flexibility to support both planned work and urgent breakdown activity
- Experience of maintaining CNC machinery would be particularly relevant.
- Knowledge of PLCs, automation systems, robotics, motors, drives, clutches or shaft alignment would also be beneficial.
- An HNC, HND or equivalent engineering qualification would be advantageous but is not essential.
