Are you a Manufacturing Engineer with strong experience in NPI or NPD and a good understanding of Design for Manufacture and Design for Assembly? Our client is an established manufacturing business looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to support new product introduction, engineering change and production improvement activity. Working across design, quality, procurement, suppliers and operations, you will help turn product designs into practical, efficient and reliable manufacturing solutions. This is a varied role with a strong focus on NPI/NPD, production readiness and supplier collaboration.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting NPI and NPD projects from concept through to production
- Reviewing designs using DFM and DFA principles
- Identifying manufacturing risks and recommending practical solutions
- Coordinating trials, validation and production-readiness activity
- Supporting the introduction of new processes, equipment and production tooling
- Working with suppliers to resolve technical issues and improve performance
- Reviewing engineering drawings, CAD information and technical specifications
- Supporting engineering change processes
- Investigating production issues and leading root cause analysis
- Working with quality, procurement, supply chain and operations to improve cost, quality and efficiency
We are looking for someone with:
- Experience in manufacturing, production, NPI or NPD engineering
- Strong involvement in taking products from design through to manufacture
- A thorough understanding of DFM and DFA
- The ability to interpret engineering drawings and CAD information
- Experience working with cross-functional teams and external suppliers
- Strong analytical, communication and problem-solving skills
- An HNC, HND or equivalent engineering qualification
- Tooling experience would be highly beneficial, particularly where this has involved specification, trials, validation, supplier-held tooling or production readiness.
- Experience with PPAP, supplier audits, engineering change control, cost modelling or Lean manufacturing would also be advantageous.
