Job Summary

We are currently seeking a Tax Senior to join our team in any of the following office locations Birmingham, AL. This role offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic and growing firm.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Running client engagements from start to finish, which includes planning, executing, directing, and completing tax projects and managing to budget.
  • Supervising, training, and mentoring associates and interns on tax projects and assessing performance of staff for engagement reviews; performing in-charge role as needed.
  • Reviewing tax returns done by staff and making recommendations on return preparation regarding accuracy and tax savings opportunities; gain increasing responsibility in review process.
  • Preparing tax returns for more complex individual, trust, partnership, corporate, and foreign tax clients.
  • Researching and consulting on various tax matters; utilizing tax-related software to prepare and process returns and research tax matters.
  • Responding to inquiries from the IRS and other tax authorities.
  • Recommending new tax strategies and determining profitability of potential acquisitions and mergers.
  • Identifying areas of tax reductions and savings regularly.
  • Traveling to clients occasionally.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; Master’s degree in accounting, taxation, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2+ years of progressive tax return preparation and compliance experience.
  • CPA license or in process of obtaining CPA license.
  • Proficient with computer software packages and platforms including Microsoft Office Suite, Tax software, ProSystems Engagement and CCH Axcess.
  • Strong tax accounting skills with proficiency in US GAAP, tax compliance, corporate consolidated returns, consolidated federal tax returns, partnership returns, and combined state tax returns.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, initiative, and leadership skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to meet or exceed time constraints and goals.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, supervise staff and lead projects.
  • Ability to work additional hours as needed.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Maintains a high level of professionalism and consistently demonstrates respect for others.
