Our client, EFT Systems, is recruiting a Technical Sales Estimator to support enquiry handling, technical surveying, system design input and quotation production across fire, life safety and security works.
The role covers fire alarm systems, security systems and associated electrical elements.
The successful candidate will survey client premises where required, develop technical solutions, select appropriate equipment and produce accurate quotations that meet both client requirements and industry standards.
This is predominantly an office-based estimating role.
We anticipate that a minimum of 60% of the role will be focused on desk-based estimating, quotation preparation and CRM management activities.
The remaining time will be spent undertaking site surveys across the North where additional technical information is required or where site engagement adds value to the customer relationship.
The role combines technical expertise, commercial awareness and customer engagement, making it an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer or estimator looking to play a key role in the work-winning process.
The postholder will receive enquiries for remedial works, small works and tender opportunities and determine whether each opportunity can be accurately priced from existing information or requires a site survey.
Responsibilities
- For desk-based opportunities, the successful candidate will work from drawings, specifications, schedules, photographs, asset records and client information to prepare detailed and accurate quotations.
- Where site attendance is required, the postholder will survey premises, review existing installations, identify technical constraints, confirm project scope and gather the information required to develop an accurate proposal.
- The role includes preparing quotations for remedial works, upgrades, new installations and tender opportunities across fire, life safety and security systems.
- The successful candidate will develop technical solutions, select appropriate equipment and ensure that labour allowances, materials, compliance requirements and design considerations are reflected within each quotation.
- The role supports contract review activities following project award and assists with technical documentation, certification requirements and project handovers where required.
- The postholder will provide technical support to engineers, operational teams and customers throughout both the quotation and delivery process.
- They will respond to technical enquiries from clients and prospects via telephone, email and meetings, clearly explaining proposed solutions and helping customers understand the basis of the quotation.
- The role also includes carrying out technical audits of installations, maintenance activities and engineering standards where this supports quality assurance, compliance and customer confidence.
Requirements
- Candidates should possess a strong engineering background with practical experience of fire alarm systems, security systems and related life safety technologies.
- Experience producing estimates, quotations and technical designs is essential, alongside the ability to convert survey findings, specifications and customer requirements into commercially viable solutions.
- A strong understanding of British Standards relating to fire systems is required, together with experience designing fire alarm installations and associated life safety systems across industrial, commercial, retail and domestic environments.
- Experience working in accordance with BAFE codes of practice is essential.
