Location: Milton Keynes/Homebased – with the expectation to attend Graphnet Group office sites at least once a month or as when required for team collaboration days.

Overview:

Graphnet Health are seeking a permanent QA Data Tester as part of the Population Health Analytics Division. The focus of this post is to quality assure our Population Health Analytics data products. The person will be required to take on a variety of quality assurance and data testing tasks with technology including Playwright, Azure SQL, Fabric, Databricks, OneLake and Azure data factory. The focus of this role is on testing our Population Health data platform product at a data and data visualisation dataset level. We are seeking individuals with the enthusiasm and aptitude to providing solutions to complex problems.

The Population health analytics team works at the forefront of the exciting transformation agenda within health and care, delivering population analytics solutions that allow health and care organisations to plan health and care services based on the true needs of their populations. Our team are highly experienced and passionate about Population Health; using technology to help improve the health and care of the nation. This role provides the successful candidate the chance to be involved in Population Health Analytics programmes covering 17 million of the UK population.

The ideal candidate would have quality assurance data testing experience combined with excellent interpersonal skills and a good analytical mind. Experience of healthcare data would be an advantage.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Improve the QA process, planning, tracking, and reporting of test executions for defined product releases
  • Contribute to building and maintaining an effective, cutting-edge, automated data validation process for live customer environments.
  • Create, maintain, and enhance existing automated test plans/scripts using Playwright, Typescript.
  • Perform accurate manual functional, non-functional, system testing and regression tests.
  • Development and execution of test cases and workflow scenarios, recording outcome of tests, escalation of defects and identified opportunities for product improvement.
  • User interface testing for both the Population Health workbench and Power BI based data visualisations.
  • Collaborating with members of the development team to provide QA feedback and drive-up product quality e.g. exploration and resolution of defects identified.
  • Collaborating with other software testers and implementation staff to facilitate the testing of Graphnet and where required, third party integrated software.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of processes, protocols and procedures to improve the quality of our software and customer deliverables.
  • Assist the development and consultancy teams in investigating and resolving problems with software.
  • Other Duties – as required by the team from time to time.

Educations & Experience:

Required:

  • 3 years plus experience in software or data testing, with a minimum of 2 year focused on data validation, ETL testing, or data migration projects.
  • Experience with databases, with hands on experience of SQL.
  • Data manipulation and comparisons using Microsoft Excel.
  • Hands-on experience in using Python scripts or Databricks notebooks for data validation, data profiling, or test automation purposes.
  • Experience of testing and validating data within Data Marts for accuracy and completeness.
  • Experience of developing and executing test cases for data pipelines, database migrations, and reports, ensuring data accuracy and consistency across platforms.
  • Familiarity with professional Test Management tools such as Jira for tracking and managing test activities.
  • Proven ability in recording and reporting test outcomes, logging defects, and managing them through to resolution.
  • Exposure to working collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team environment.
  • Involvement in supporting the planning, execution, and reporting of test activities for scheduled releases and data migrations.
  • Awareness of IG, data protection, and patient confidentiality guidelines, ensuring all testing and data handling adheres to regulatory requirements.
  • Assistance in the design, documentation, and continuous improvement of QA processes, standards, and procedures for data validation within a data-focused team.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral).
  • Experience of testing in Microsoft Azure analytics products such as Microsoft Fabric and Power BI at a dataset / dataflow level.
  • Experience of quality assurance and data validation of analytics and business intelligence products which are delivered to multiple customers.
  • Knowledge of or work experience within the health or social care sectors
  • With knowledge of health and/or social care data sets and understanding of clinical coding
  • NHS data quality testing experience
  • Experience of remote working in a geographically dispersed team
  • Knowledge of the end-to-end software development life cycle
  • Experience of working in an Agile Scrum team.

Qualifications:

  • ISEB Foundation/ISTQB qualification in Software Testing
  • A bachelor’s degree in related subject (desirable).
