We are looking for a Content Designer who:

  • is passionate about using evidence to design content that helps people find out what they need to know as quickly and simply as possible
  • understands user needs and designs content around those needs
  • can develop and implement content strategy which improves the user experience

DWP is the UK's biggest government department. Over 22 million people access our services every day, and around 100,000 people work to provide the support, benefits, and advice they need. We're currently taking on a generational digital transformation that is changing how we deliver for our users. Our scale is unique and our purpose is extraordinary.

You and your role:

We are looking for a talented and ambitious Senior Content Designer who can take a high-level view of how a user's content journey maps to our business processes. We need you to ensure that life events and holistic user needs are driving the way we design user journeys. Our users are some of the most vulnerable in society and your work would have an impact on how they interact with their complex needs. You will be driving DWP Digital's content on the GOV.UK website to make sure the content published meets users' needs and the department's goals, consistently managing and influencing our senior stakeholders while working across product, service, and departmental lines. We want someone who will experiment with new ways of working with the Government Digital Service to improve the effectiveness and timeliness of DWP's GOV.UK content. You work with and develop less experienced content designers, help develop content strategy and refine solutions for complex products and services.

Your essential skills and experience:

  • Extensive experience designing accessible and plain English content, and contributing to content patterns, processes, or guidelines.
  • Substantial experience of using quantitative and qualitative data to make content decisions.
  • Have used different types of prototypes to show, explain and test your content.
  • Substantial experience of peer review and of contributing to a community of practice.
  • Collaborated with other disciplines and advocated for the role of content design.
  • Managed relationships with stakeholders and influenced them to make more user-centred and evidence-based decisions.
  • Contributed to content strategies or initiatives to help your organisation achieve the right outcomes.

Details:
