What skills, knowledge and experience will you need?
- Previous knowledge, background and experience of working in live operations areas environment.
- Demonstrable knowledge and experience of Problem Management, focusing on risk analysis & mitigation and root cause analysis.
- Working knowledge and experience of Change Management, focusing on change analysis and impact on complex application and technical infrastructure.
- Demonstrable knowledge and experience of working in a complex IT infrastructure environment e.g. networks, servers (Wintel, Unix, Linux), storage, databases.
- Proven track record of creating a positive user/service experience and collaborating with key stakeholders across the digital landscape.
- Experience working within a proactive service management team, specialising in leading and managing major incidents from identification to resolution, coordinating technical teams, stakeholder communication, and postâincident review.
Responsibilities
As an Operations Technical Service Manager you play a vital role in protecting and maintaining DWP's live digital services. You assess service health, manage risks, and ensure smooth daily operations.
You lead and facilitate major incident management, coordinating rapid, safe restoration of services when failures occur, and provide clear, timely communication across digital services, operational areas, service management and the service desk.
You continually review performance, risks and issues affecting live services, working closely with technical and business service owners to deliver customerâoutcomeâdriven excellence, minimise business impact and maintain zero tolerance for production outages.
This fullâtime position has a 24/7 onâcall rota with occasional early starts and late finishes shared across a team of nine. If based in Blackpool youâll also travel to the Manchester hub.
Location and Hybrid Working
Location: Blackpool, Manchester or NewcastleâuponâTyne, whichever is most convenient.
Hybrid working: 40% remote, 60% hub.
Compensation and Benefits
- Pay: ÂŁ44,447.
- Pension: civil service pension with employer contributions of 28.97%, worth over ÂŁ12,876 per year.
- Holidays: 26 days rising to 31 days over time, plus up to 3 extra days off per month on flexiâtime and all public holidays.
