Responsibilities
- Support the Graphics & Technical Design Manager in the day-to-day running and continual development of the artwork, reprographics and technical design business functions.
- Coordinate the flow of work into the department, organising and prioritising all day-to-day reprographic tasks and assigning to suitable shift operators.
- Ensure all Technical Design and Sampling tasks remain under control, working in conjunction with the Technical Design Team Leader.
- Monitor workload and resource capacity to ensure jobs are processed in a timely manner and meet customer expectations.
- Ensure incoming emails, 1st stage assessments and final artwork downloads are completed in a suitable timeframe.
- Provide cover for the Graphics & Technical Design Manager when they are unavailable.
- Assist in reviewing and highlighting training/development opportunities, keeping standard operating procedures (SOPs) and training matrix up to date.
- Produce and review regular KPI reports to help monitor team performance.
- Support with regular team member reviews to ensure continued staff development.
- Participate in meetings, including customer-facing, both online and in person, and on occasion onsite at customer facilities.
Technical Skills
- A solid understanding of Offset Litho print production and technical finishing processes and limitations.
- Excellent knowledge of artwork, reprographics and pre-press processes and associated software from Esko (Artpro/Artpro+) and Adobe (Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat etc).
- Good working knowledge of workflow systems (i.e. Esko WebCenter/Automation Engine) and processes would be an advantage.
- A good understanding of structural and technical design processes used within the printed packaging industry (cutter profiles, varnish blankets etc).
- Technical assessment of incoming artwork files to ensure they meet correct specifications for successful production.
- Clear communication of all queries whilst able to offer suitable solutions.
- Ability to monitor schedules to ensure operators are far enough ahead.
- Support the completion of reprographic tasks when workload demands.
- Assist with technical artwork and print queries, liaising with relevant stakeholders.
- Monitor the GMG proofing system to ensure it remains functional and calibrated.
- Support the development and maintenance of accurate documentation and processes.
- Maintain an awareness of customer guidelines, departmental SOPs and Health & Safety practices and help keep all team members up to date.
- Assist in reporting and solving any IT issues the department might have.
- Stay up to date with all relevant software.
