Responsibilities

  • To conduct quality assurance inspections at all stages of production.
  • To assist with training and continuous improvement of the food safety and quality culture in compliance with the BRC Global Packaging Standard, ISO 9001, PS9000, ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.
  • Act as the first point of contact from the production area in regard to quality matters.
  • Promote and enforce good quality practices and hygiene standards.
  • Conduct quality inspection rounds during the designated shifts – including process audits, displayed SOP/SPL review and update, quality display board update, and clean as you go.
  • Analysis of all production samples against approved standards.
  • Analysis of flat pack process and training and support keeping the department up to date.
  • Support the site in containment of faulty material. When required, support sorting activity.
  • Accurately sorting quarantined product and keeping this area organised. Issue scrap and credits where required.
  • Checking/sampling of finished goods pallets in the warehouse if needed.
  • Conduct where appropriate, testing of materials.
  • Conduct glass and brittle materials audits and publishing results.
  • Conducting and publishing GMP audits against BRCGS and ISO 9001 standards, raising and managing non‑conformances, maintaining closure of corrective actions.
  • Supporting NCR investigations with root‑cause analysis and CAPA.
  • Supporting customer complaints process, gathering evidence and making it available for RCA.
  • Carry out internal audits.
  • Perform other duties as directed by the Quality Manager, QM deputy.

  • Compliance with the company’s standards (ISO 9001, PS 9000, BRCGS, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 45001).
  • Maintenance and upkeep of quality department files and records.
  • Technical Skills / Qualities
  • Experience within a manufacturing environment (ideally food, print and/or packaging) – desirable.

Experience in internal and/or external auditing is essential.

Computer skills including the use of Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word.

  • Computer literate, able to use Avante (desirable – training will be provided).
  • Interpersonal Skills
  • Excellent communication skills essential; ability to give clear written and verbal instructions, clearly understand and explain quality issues to workforce and have good understanding of procedures and processes.
  • Able to identify areas of weakness within processes and customer specific procedures and help find innovative solutions.
  • Highly responsible, reliable and flexible with a strong work ethic.
  • Able to effectively prioritise and adapt to a varied and changeable workload.
  • Punctual, presentable and with good attendance.

Full Driving Licence.

  • Shift Pattern
  • Morning: Monday – Friday (6am – 2pm)
  • Late: Tuesday – Saturday (2pm – 10pm; Sat – depends on production time)
  • Night: Monday – Friday (10pm – 6am)
