Lead a small team to deliver safe, efficient, and compliant warehouse and logistics operations for a high-volume print & packaging site. Ensure accurate inventory control, timely movement of raw materials, WIP, and finished goods, while maintaining product integrity and achieving OTIF delivery targets.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Directly supervise and develop a small warehouse team, rostering, performance reviews, coaching, and training.
  • Lead daily warehouse & logistics operations (receiving, putaway, storage, picking, packing, dispatch) across all shifts.
  • Enforce quality controls specific to print & packaging: segregation and quarantine of misprints/defects; packaging integrity checks.
  • Coordinate closely with Print, Cut & Crease, and Finishing to align material availability, kitting, and dispatch to the production plan.
  • Manage Goods In/Out: booking, dock scheduling, dock-to-stock targets, and carrier performance; ensure accurate documentation (COCs, labels, batch/lot IDs).
  • Maintain Inventory Control: cycle counting, ABC classification, FIFO/FEFO; root-cause analysis of variances and shrinkage.
  • Oversee Transportation: plan collections/deliveries, optimise routes and loads, and manage relationships with carriers.
  • Resource Management: allocate labour, equipment (forklifts, pallet trucks), racking and space; ensure preventative maintenance and cleanliness.
  • Systems & Data: utilise WMS (e.g., AC4D/SAP PRD or equivalent) with RF/barcode/RFID for realtime accuracy; ensure master data integrity and scan compliance.
  • Continuous Improvement: lead on 5S, and safety conversations; reduce waste, damage, and non-value travel; standardise SOPs and visual controls.
  • Compliance: uphold site Health & Safety and environmental standards, permits-to-work, and contractor controls; complete incident investigations and corrective actions.

PERFORMANCE INDICATORS:

  • Inventory accuracy (%TBA).
  • Dock-to-stock time and receiving efficiency.
  • Picking accuracy and order fulfilment (OTIF).
  • On-time shipping rate and cost per order/line.
  • Shrinkage and damage rate; waste/scrap due to handling/storage.
  • Safety: incident rate, time since last accident, TRIR; compliance audit scores.
  • Employee engagement, training completion, and labour productivity.

TECHNICAL SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS and EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Proven experience in warehouse & logistics management within manufacturing (print/packaging preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of WMS and inventory control (batch/lot tracking, FIFO/FEFO); proficiency in RF/barcode and RFID.
  • Familiarity with production systems (e.g., AC4D/SAP PRD) and MS Office/reporting tools.
  • Understanding of lean/continuous improvement (5S, Kaizen) and warehouse layout optimisation.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety, chemical/ink handling, manual handling, and environmental controls (temperature/humidity).
  • Flexible to support shift or weekend operations when required.
  • Competence in conducting safety conversations, quality inspections, and team supervision.
  • IT literacy, including Microsoft Office and production reporting tools.

  • Hands-on leadership with clear communication and coaching.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with Production, Quality, Planning, Customer Service, and external carriers.
  • Calm under pressure; strong problem-solving and decision-making; constructive team player.
