We are seeking an experienced Electrical Construction Manager to lead the electrical delivery of a major prison refurbishment project in Newmarket. This role is critical to ensuring the safe, compliant, and timely execution of all electrical works within a secure and highly regulated environment.
You will coordinate site activities, manage subcontractors, ensure compliance with all prison security protocols, and work closely with the project leadership team to drive quality and programme performance.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee all electrical installation and refurbishment works on-site.
- Manage and coordinate electrical subcontractors and direct labour.
- Ensure works comply with BS standards, project specifications, and security requirements.
- Conduct regular site inspections, quality checks, and progress reporting.
- Liaise with prison estate teams, project managers, and other stakeholders.
- Develop and monitor method statements, risk assessments, and permits.
- Ensure adherence to Health & Safety legislation within a secure environment.
- Support testing, commissioning, and handover activities.
- Identify risks, mitigate delays, and maintain programme targets.
- Proven experience as an Electrical Construction Manager or similar role.
- Background in commercial refurbishment or complex live-site environments (secure sites advantageous).
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, regulations, and industry standards.
- Ability to manage teams and subcontractors effectively.
- Excellent communication, reporting, and organisational skills.
- ECS/CSCS (Managers/Professionals), SMSTS, and relevant electrical qualifications.
- Security clearance or eligibility to obtain prison vetting.
