graphcore

At Graphcore, we’re building the future of AI compute. We’re a team of semiconductor, software and AI experts, with deep experience in creating the complete AI compute stack — from silicon and software to infrastructure at datacenter scale. Backed by the SoftBank Group, we’re expanding our teams worldwide to solve the toughest problems in a place where everyone can make an impact on the company, our products and the future of artificial intelligence.

About the role

The Silicon team is responsible for designing the silicon chips produced by Graphcore in leading node technologies and using the leading EDA tools. The team is divided into three areas that work closely together:

  • Logical design and DFT team: iterate with Architectural, Verification, Physical & Operations teams to define the microarchitecture and produce testable RTL.
  • Verification team: learn modern CPU and ASIC verification methodologies such as constrained random test generation and functional coverage, and verify that the chips meet their specification.
  • Physical Design team: take the logical RTL and produce final transistor‑level layout (GDS) ready to send to a foundry. Gain experience with synthesis, place and route, timing analysis, physical design checks, power integrity, logical equivalence and other modern physical implementation steps in leading‑edge technology nodes.

All three roles involve using industry‑standard EDA tools.

About you

We are looking for technical, passionate, and motivated individuals who are prepared to learn, work, and develop in a fast‑paced, technically challenging environment:

  • On track for or recently achieved a 2:1 or above in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science or a related subject.
  • Evidence of technical skills in C/C++ or Python (2 or 3) through hobbies, projects or prior work experience.
  • A self‑starter who is highly motivated, curious, and willing to take action, as proven through extracurricular activities or hobbies beyond studies.
  • Strong teamwork and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • A passion for and keen interest in learning about the exciting new field of AI.

We are not looking for an instant expert but for graduates hungry to learn, develop, and contribute to Graphcore’s future.

In addition to a competitive salary, Graphcore offers flexible working, a generous annual leave policy, private medical insurance and health cash plan, a dental plan, a pension (matched up to 5 %), life assurance and income protection. We also have a generous parental leave policy and an employee assistance programme, including health, mental wellbeing and bereavement support.

We welcome people of different backgrounds and experiences; we’re committed to building an inclusive work environment that makes Graphcore a great home for everyone. We offer an equal‑opportunity process and understand that there are visible and invisible differences in all of us. We can provide a flexible approach to interviews and encourage you to let us know if you require any reasonable adjustments.
