Job Summary
We’re looking for an experienced Payroll Administrator to join on a fixed term contract of 9 months to support our UK payroll operations while our Global payroll manager is on maternity leave. This role will support a rapidly scaling payroll operation in the UK in a fast-growing global tech company. This is a hands-on, operational role where accuracy, compliance, and great employee experience really matter. You’ll be the go-to person for UK payroll, pensions, and payroll-related benefits, working closely with our People and Finance teams and reporting into the VP Finance. Responsibilities and Duties
- UK Payroll
- Coordinate the monthly payroll changes to input to payroll provider for processing
- Review payroll outputs for accuracy, resolve discrepancies and provide payroll for review by VP Finance
- Ensure payroll is delivered accurately and on time, every month
- Pensions & Benefits
- Manage UK pension contribution uploads, reconciliations, and reporting of new starters and leavers
- Administer payroll-linked benefits including Cycle to Work and Give As You Earn (GAYE)
- Set up, amend, and stop deductions in line with provider and People team data
- Liaise with pension and benefit providers as needed
- Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure compliance with UK payroll legislation and HMRC requirements
- Reconcile RTI filings and support year-end processes including P60’s and PSA reporting
- Provide payroll journals files to Finance
- Maintain accurate, auditable payroll records and support the annual financial audit in relation to payroll queries
- Employee & People Team Support
- Be the first point of contact for UK employee payroll queries
- Work closely with the People team to ensure accurate data and smooth processes
- Clearly explain payslips, deductions, pensions, benefits, and statutory payments for any queries that arise
- Operational Ownership
- Provide day-to-day payroll support while the Global Payroll Manager is on maternity leave
- Maintain payroll documentation and controls
- Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes and employee experience
Skills and Experience
- Experience of operating a monthly payroll in the UK
- Strong knowledge of PAYE, NI, pensions, and salary sacrifice
- Experience managing pension uploads and payroll-linked benefits
- Excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy
- Confident communicator with a customer-focused approach
- High level of discretion and professionalism
Nice to have
- Experience in a tech or high-growth company
- Familiarity with payroll & HR systems such as ADP
- Exposure to multi-country payroll environments
