Role Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated Head of Year to work as part of our pastoral team at Granville Academy. In this role you will support students day‑to‑day, develop a distinct year group ethos, and lead your cohort to achieve high standards of learning, attendance and behaviour.
Key Responsibilities
- Support students day‑to‑day to ensure all students make exceptional progress.
- Develop and promote a distinct year group culture fostering pride and loyalty.
- Take ownership and provide leadership to the year group, intervening quickly when standards are not met.
- Monitor and analyse progress, attendance and conduct across the curriculum.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, the safeguarding team, SENDCO, EWO, social/health agencies and other professionals to support every student’s potential.
- Act as a key point of contact for pupils, building effective relationships with students and families through excellent communication skills.
- Perform first‑aid duties (full training provided).
- Work 37 hours per week during term time plus four inset days (43 weeks total).
Qualifications and Skills
Applicants should have a strong background in pastoral leadership, excellent all‑round communication skills, the ability to manage progress, behaviour and attendance, and a commitment to protecting and supporting young people. Experience working with safeguarding protocols and first‑aid knowledge will be an advantage.
