Good behaviour provides the foundations for high quality teaching and learning to thrive. It allows teachers to focus on their craft and to teach well. High quality teaching is sacrosanct and is the absolute focus of our next chapter ensuring that great teaching impacts positively on exceptional outcomes of all within our care. Our visitors tell us that our Academy offers them a warm welcome with a calm atmosphere conducive to high quality teaching and learning. We are a passionate and a committed group of staff who support each other to be the best that we can be.

The Candidate

We are seeking an experienced, approachable and resilient professional who is passionate about supporting young people and protecting their wellbeing. You will have experience working with students experiencing emotional difficulties and challenging behaviours, alongside the ability to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils, families, carers and colleagues. Strong communication, active listening, organisation and confidentiality skills are essential, as is the ability to remain calm under pressure and take responsibility for your work. You will be a collaborative team player with a positive, solutions-focused approach and a strong commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, professional development and achieving the best possible outcomes for pupils.

As Safeguarding Officer, you will work closely with the Designated Safeguarding Lead and wider Safeguarding Team to support the day-to-day coordination and management of safeguarding across the Academy. You will provide advice and guidance when concerns are raised, ensure referrals and safeguarding records are accurate, secure and appropriately followed up, and liaise with external agencies where required. You will also contribute to safeguarding training, early-help processes and support for looked-after children. Alongside your safeguarding responsibilities, you will provide emotional health and wellbeing support to pupils through one-to-one and targeted group sessions, helping young people overcome barriers and access appropriate support.
