The Candidate

We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and highly motivated Head of Year to work as part of our pastoral team.

Responsibilities

  • Support students day‑to‑day ensuring they make exceptional progress by displaying strong attitudes to learning and the highest levels of behaviour.
  • Develop a distinct culture and year group ethos that fosters pride and loyalty.
  • Provide leadership to the year group, ensuring students meet high standards and intervening quickly when necessary.
  • Monitor progress, attitude, attendance and conduct across the curriculum.
  • Liaise with teachers, parents, SENDCO, EWO, social/health agencies and other professionals to support pupils.
  • Act as the key point of contact for students and establish effective working relationships with their families.
  • Deliver accurate results in a fast‑paced environment, demonstrating resilience and enthusiasm.
  • Carry out first‑aid duties (full training provided).

About the role

The position is 37 hours per week, with Term Time plus 4 additional weeks (43 weeks in total).
