We are looking for a Mechanical turning and fitting, laser alignment and metal fabricator, who is enthusiastic to work within the fast-paced engineering sector.
Carrying out work on customer equipment on-site.
Setting a good example for Apprentices and offering advice, guidance, and assistance, when necessary.
Ensuring the company is successful in gaining and maintaining Investors in People, ISO and 14001, and any other desired accreditations, by contributing to the company culture of continuous improvement and working together as a team with my colleagues.
Personal responsibility for Health and Safety in the workplace.
This role is full time (38 hours p/w) with potential for overtime, and 29 days holiday per year, inclusive of 8 statutory holidays.
Minimum Qualifications/Experience: The successful applicant is expected to be time-served or qualified in an Electrical or Mechanical Engineering discipline Experience / qualified in the use of calibrated measuring equipment such as micrometres, vernier callipers etc.
Previous experience welding or qualified.
Previous Experience in Vibration analysis is a predictive maintenance technique covering the early diagnosis of faults in machinery.
It would be advantageous to have a good working knowledge of mechanical drive assemblies, and a basic knowledge of Hydraulics, Pneumatics, mechanical design principles and techniques.
Applicants must be flexible to work outside of normal working hours if required and have the availability to travel to work at client locations.
Knowledge of manufacturing assembly processes would be an advantage.
Previous experience working in busy workshop environment.
A desire to train and upskill to further career.
Responsibilities: Turning and machine shop duties including fitting and mechanical repairs, workshop maintenance, metal fabrication, welding, site machining/repairs, laser alignment etc.
Complete Job Cards, Time Sheets, and other related documentation, as required, to ensure effective and successful operation of the company Quality Management System.
Communicate with customers and suppliers, including providing good levels of customer service and sourcing parts for repair/outsourcing work.
Ensure personal work and performance is compliant with the ISO Management Systems.
Develop and promote a continual improvement culture throughout the company.
Communicate effectively with all members of staff on a regular basis, providing direction to Apprentices.
Workshop duties including waste segregation, collections and deliveries, cleaning and painting etc.
Engineers are expected to maintain a satisfactory standard of appearance.
Have a legal Duty of Care and a responsibility for good Health and Safety practice in the workplace, for both personal actions and omissions that may impact upon colleagues, customers, the public etc.
Ensure workstations, tools and equipment are maintained in good condition and that the 5S Housekeeping Policy is maintained throughout the Workshop, with individual assigned areas.
May be required to work for other departments within the company from time-to-time e.g., Operations May have additional responsibilities in the Workplace such as: Fire Warden, First Aider, Apprentice Mentor, Employee Committee Members, and Emergency Spill Team etc.
May be required to hold additional Licenses, Training and Qualifications such as: Forklift License, Scissor/Boom License, Overhead Crane License, CSR Card etc.
May be required to undertake reasonable Ad Hoc duties, as required, according to the needs of the organisation.
