This is a key role in this large general practice and requires absolute confidentiality, excellent telephone manner and attention to detail as well as excellent secretarial skills. The post-holder is part of the administrative team who all work together to ensure that the service to our patients is of the highest standard. This role will be based mainly at our Shelford site but may be required to work across sites from time to time.
Monday to Friday 9am-5pm . Job share considered
Main responsibilities:
To provide a comprehensive secretarial service to the GPs and practice team.
To organise and manage the workload in order to provide that service.
To work with other staff in the practice to ensure a comprehensive service to the doctors and other staff in the handling of messages and the administrative functions of the practice.
· To make appointments for patients via our ERS system
· To deal with enquiries from hospitals and patients on all matters relating to their care.
· Audio/copy typing of doctors referral letters, reports and other correspondence.
· Copy typing for other practice staff .
· Other duties as from time to time delegated by the Secretarial Manager
Other information:
The post-holder will be expected to organise the general secretarial workload. General Practice is changing all the time and all staff are required to be flexible and adaptable to new technology and new systems of work.
