Health Care Assistant – Urgent Emergency Care Capacity Hub
The service provides essential additional capacity to the Urgent, on the day services offered across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. Currently there are daily presentations at A&E departments, across all the acute providers, that could be dealt with by clinicians in the community. The role of this team is to provide that urgent on the day service that reduces pressures on A&E and the ambulance services and keeps patients out of hospital and safe in the community. Ultimately this service will be offered out of 3 locations across the county to make it accessible to all.
This service is 8am 8pm 7 days per week, shifts negotiated but will be 12 hour shifts and will include one weekend per month.
Responsibilities
- BP monitoring, temperature and pulse recording, urine testing,
- ECG recording
- Removal of stitches
- Peak Flows
- Ring removals
- Swabs, including wound and MRSA
- Assisting with the ordering of pathology supplies
- Processing laboratory samples as requested by GP
- Maintaining and stocking pathology supplies in consulting rooms
- Maintaining and tidying other areas as identified
- Chaperoning duties as required
- Any other duties as advised by your line manager
- Undertake specific clinical activities for a named patient that have been delegated and taught specifically in relation to that individual
- Participate in audit(s)
- Maintain accurate records and use of computer templates.
- Reporting anomalies to senior member of staff and notifying GP/Nurse of any significant patient issues.
