As a service line within Forensic & Investigation Services (FIS), the Financial Crime team helps clients of all shapes and sizes by providing the advice they need to navigate complex financial crime risks and challenges. Our work is varied and includes:
- Reviewing a firm’s financial crime framework (or specific elements within it) to assess business risk and regulatory compliance
- Providing training to raise awareness and update a firm’s knowledge repository
- Internal systems reviews – combining internal audit and industry insight to report on financial crime and fraud control design and effectiveness
- Helping a firm to scope and carry out remediation activities in relation to core financial crime processes (such as KYC, CDD/EDD, screening)
- Conducting investigations on behalf of a firm and providing recommendations to help them determine appropriate next steps
- Supporting an organisation’s response to identified regulatory breaches, such as sanctions breaches or instances of money laundering, bribery or corruption

As a Financial Crime Assistant Manager within our Financial Crime team, you will:
- Provide inputs for reports including drafting report sections, and keep organised records of work done and conclusions reached.
- Identify key issues early to discuss with the Engagement Manager and keep them informed of progress.
- Support the Engagement Manager in meeting timelines & budgets.
- Display basic commercial awareness and enthusiasm for developing commercial skills.
- Be able to escalate appropriately, bringing to the attention of senior colleagues all matters requiring their attention and decision.
- Actively seek and manage opportunities to learn and develop yourself and your own technical knowledge and consultancy skills through training, coaching and on-the-job learning opportunities.
- Take responsibility for assigned areas, including having work reviewed and supporting the engagement manager in monitoring time and budget progress.
- Actively support aspects of business development opportunities e.g. preparing proposals/bids, organising conferences/client events, developing marketing materials.
- Build up a network of contacts and attend external networking events, acting as an ‘ambassador’ of the firm.
- Have a good knowledge of technical matters relevant to Financial Crime, including MLR2017, CFA2017, BA2010, JMLSG, and FATF guidance.
- Ensure compliance with internal procedures including the completion of take-on, conflict checking and setting up charge codes.
The minimum criteria you’ll need is minimum 2 years relevant experience (of which minimum 1 year in a financial crime role (consultancy, industry or regulator)) and a good knowledge of technical matters relevant to Financial Crime, including MLR2017, CFA2017, BA2010, JMLSG, and FATF guidance.
It would be great if you had some of the following skills, but don’t worry if you don’t tick every box, we’ll help you develop along the way:
- Financial crime professional qualification preferred (but not required) e.g. ICA, ACAMS, CISI, ACFE
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, primarily Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
We are looking for candidates with a genuine interest in our clients and a passion to help them navigate financial crime challenges. You will have sound technical knowledge of the UK financial crime regulatory regime in one or more core area (of AML/CTF, anti-bribery and corruption, sanctions, fraud, facilitation of tax evasion), an awareness of current developments and issues, and an enthusiasm to learn. You will have experience of working in the financial services sector or at a financial services regulator.
As an Assistant Manager, you will experience working on a range of assignments and should be comfortable working independently using your own experience and supporting junior colleagues. You should be focused on self-development as well as having the desire to progress your knowledge and experience across the spectrum of financial crime topics.
