In this role you will lead transaction tax work within the Financial Services Tax team, guiding due diligence and tax structuring for buy-side and sell-side deals. You will collaborate with Transaction Services and client teams to shape acquisition terms and post-deal advice. The role focuses on building the FS Tax practice, nurturing client relationships and delivering high-quality tax insights. Responsibilities
- Lead due diligence meetings with target businesses and oversee analyses
- Prepare and review structuring reports aligned with transaction economics
- Collaborate with Transaction Services to align workstreams
- Review forecast models, funds flows, and legal documents with the team
- Engage external contacts (private equity, law firms) to drive business development
- Develop proposals and participate in client presentations to win new work
- Manage project budgets, ensure accurate billing and timely collections
- Produce technically sound research using legislation and firm resources
- Support training and development of team members
Key requirements
- Professional qualification (CTA / ACA / ACCA or equivalent)
- Confidently manage a portfolio of Financial Services clients
- UK corporation tax compliance and/or M&A experience (FS client exposure beneficial)
- Exposure to transfer pricing, R&D, VAT, employment taxes, stamp duty, share transactions/schemes
- Experience in client handling and project management
- Advising on technical tax matters; managing multiple deliverables and deadlines
- Client handling and relationship building
