NEW GROUND WON’T BREAK ITSELF
We have an exciting opportunity within our GT tax team, focusing on advising businesses and their owners on significant transactions.
This is an advisory-only role with no compliance responsibilities.
You will work on a variety of interesting projects, including tax structuring for trade sales, private equity investments, management buyouts, IPOs, carve-outs/demergers, and related planning.
This position may suit you if you have experience advising shareholders and their companies on transactions, whether from a corporate or private client tax background, as we have team members from both areas.
You will benefit from working with approachable, friendly colleagues in a supportive culture that values technical excellence combined with practical, commercial solutions and exceptional client service.
The role is within our GT Private South & London team, which covers transaction advisory and traditional private client advice for high-net-worth individuals. There is flexibility to work across both areas if interested.
Role Overview
As an Associate Director in our Private Advisory Tax team, you will:
- Provide expert tax advice to mid-market businesses and their shareholders
- Advise on tax implications and structuring of acquisitions, disposals, and business separations
- Build trust and respect from clients by delivering high-quality tax advice accurately and on time
- Lead client engagements and be the primary contact, coordinating with the Private and wider Tax teams to ensure correct skill utilization
- Support the development of junior team members, understanding their career goals
- Lead client meetings, answering queries confidently and concisely
- Offer innovative solutions to tax issues proactively and reactively, promoting cross-selling within the GT network
Candidate Requirements
Minimum criteria include:
- A professional qualification (CTA / ACA / ACCA or equivalent)
- Confidence advising on complex tax matters, including transactional experience
- A strong interest in personal and team development
Additional skills that are a plus but not mandatory:
- Building external profile and firm reputation
- Business development and proposal writing experience
