Role summary: Every day our teams help people across various industries to do what is right and achieve their goals. The role of an Apprentice/Trainee Supervisor within the commercial audit business is critical to the experience our Associates have as they embark on their Audit careers and is key to retaining our great people. Through your everyday interactions with our Associates you will play a pivotal role in inspiring our people to be their best and creating an inclusive culture.

You will work closely with the Associate Career Coaches and other key internal stakeholders such as Office Training Contacts, Early Careers, People Advisory and Graduate Recruitment. What you’ll do: As an Apprentice/Trainee Supervisor within our Audit team, you will:

  • Be responsible for providing both support and challenge to Associates to enable them to be their best.
  • Have regular conversations with Associates to understand workload, pressures, wellbeing and feedback.
  • Proactively manage issues that arise including exam fails, under performance, absence and wellbeing concerns and escalate issues where appropriate.
  • Handle numerous administrative tasks such as monitoring performance feedback and preparing data for talent meetings.
  • Attend progress review with Apprenticeship training provider.
  • Lead the local orientation for Associates, providing a first-class introduction to our firm.
  • Work in close partnership with Associate Career Coaches and the other Apprentice/Trainee Supervisors.
  • Value diversity through everyday inclusion.

You will work collaboratively with a variety of internal teams including our Central Talent and Capacity Team (CTCT), Early Careers, People Advisory, Business School and Audit Training Leads. You’ll also be an active member of both the local management team and people manager community.

Given the importance of this role, there will be opportunities for the right person to expand their knowledge and develop their skillset including commercial awareness and contributing to people projects.

Knowing you’re right for us: Joining us as an Associate People Manager, the minimum criteria you’ll need is:

  • Experience of mentoring and coaching others.
  • Experience of direct people/line management.
  • Experience of supporting and challenging others to help them reach their full potential.
  • Confidence in using Microsoft packages.
  • A passion for creating the best possible experience for our Associates, Apprentices & Trainees.

It would be great if you had some of the following skills, but don’t worry if you don’t tick every box, we’ll help you develop along the way:

  • Experience in supporting office or firm wide projects or initiatives.
  • Experience of wellbeing and support.
  • Knowledge of accountancy profession training pathways.
  • Stakeholder management and project management skills.
  • Experience of collaborating with a range of teams.
