We are focused on quality, inclusion and integrity, delivering a different experience for our clients — personal, proactive and agile. We are a team of independent thinkers who aim to provide the expertise clients need in a way that goes beyond traditional service, while offering opportunity, balance and an inclusive culture for our people.
With over 5,000 people in the UK and a presence in 150 global markets, we are on an ambitious journey to move from great to exceptional. This role offers the chance to contribute to our potential and help redefine what our industry looks like.
Our Operational Deal Services team advises clients on the operational aspects of transactions and on how to maximise value. We also support the design and implementation of organisation-wide change programmes that create a sustainable legacy well after the deal is done. Our work spans the deal lifecycle, from pre-deal insights to post-deal transformation, helping clients solve complex problems effectively.
We work pre and post-deal for corporate, private equity and other institutions, across a range of sectors. Our core offerings include carve outs/separations (buy side and sell side), synergy assessments, integrations, operational due diligence (buy side and sell side) and post-deal operational improvement/value realisation. Our broader Advisory team collaborates with specialists in IT, HR, Finance and Business Operations, with other Grant Thornton Deals Advisory teams, and often involves international work.
We’re happy to talk flexible working and consider reduced hours and job shares, to support you in balancing work and life.
As a Director within our Operational Deal Services team, you will:
- Lead day-to-day client relationships for a range of project sizes and take responsibility for client delivery, including leading meetings and workshops, presenting outputs and drafting reports.
- Interpret and analyse complex information, identify business issues and apply technical knowledge to deliver client solutions.
- Create a positive team environment, collaborate effectively with all team members, demonstrate leadership and be willing to contribute.
- Prepare sales proposals and pitches, leveraging your external network to generate opportunities and qualify leads.
- Understand Grant Thornton services and actively cross-sell while raising awareness of Operational Deal Services.
- Support on-the-job training for Managers, Assistant Managers and Associates, including providing and seeking regular feedback.
- Assist with future recruitment of Operational Deal Services team members.
- Support Partners and Directors with day-to-day department operations, lead internal initiatives and provide appropriate delegation and support.
- Take overall responsibility for project budgeting, cost management versus budget, project quality and risk.
Joining us as a Director, the minimum criteria you’ll need to have:
- Deep knowledge of two or more of our core Operational Deal Services offerings.
- Prior consulting (in-house or advisory) experience and/or significant project work experience related to transactions.
- Extensive experience in preparing and reviewing high‑quality written reports, Excel analysis and presentations.
- Project management and/or change management and/or transformation skills.
It would be great if you have some of the following skills, but you don’t need to tick every box — we’ll help you develop along the way:
- A bachelor’s degree (or equivalent).
- An Accountancy/Finance qualification.
- Foreign language skills.
- A formal Project/Programme Management qualification.

Life is more than work. We are open to flexible working options for all roles and strive to balance work with life. The impact you can make goes beyond your day job, through activities such as secondments, fundraising for local charities, or supporting entrepreneurs in the developing world.
We are driven by our firm’s values — purposefully driven, actively curious and candid but kind. We look for people who want to contribute, spark fresh ideas and go beyond expectations, doing what’s right for the firm, our clients, our people and themselves.
