How to prepare for a job interview at Grant Thornton UK

Know Your Auditing Standards

Make sure you brush up on the International Standards on Auditing (ISAs) before your interview. Being able to discuss how you've applied these standards in past roles will show that you're not just familiar with them, but that you can also implement them effectively.

Prepare for Scenario Questions

Expect questions about how you would handle unexpected issues during an audit. Think of specific examples from your experience where you had to assess and escalate matters that arose unexpectedly. This will demonstrate your problem-solving skills and ability to think on your feet.

Showcase Your Communication Skills

Since you'll be responsible for timely communication with those charged with governance, practice articulating complex audit findings clearly and concisely. You might even want to prepare a brief presentation of a past audit report to showcase your ability to convey important information effectively.

Align with Company Values

Research the company’s values and think about how your personal ethics align with theirs. Be ready to discuss how you’ve acted with integrity in your previous roles, especially in relation to ethical considerations in non-audit work proposals. This will help you connect with the interviewers on a values level.
