Grant Thornton UK has recently taken investment from the private equity firm Cinven, the firm’s goal is to go from Great to Exceptional with ambitious plans to grow the business. This investment is leading to increased reporting requirements and the Financial Reporting & Accounting team are looking to expand by recruiting an Executive to join the team of accounting professionals. The team takes pride in being responsible for the firm’s year-end financial reporting, external audit, the Annual Report, ESG reporting and providing complex financial information to external and internal stakeholders including our Strategic Leadership Team and the Board.
The firm’s group structure will become more complex as we look to take on new investments and there are increasing demands from external stakeholders, e.g. ESG reporting. As the team supports the firm in its journey from Great to Exceptional the team also needs to go from Great to Exceptional by maintaining quality and looking at new ways of working, bringing simplicity to complexity. This Executive role is in the heart of the team, providing support to the current team’s management as we grow. You will have an important role ensuring the quality of the information produced is non-negotiable and bring a curiosity to explore digital solutions to find more efficient ways of working, you will have a natural curiosity to bring new thinking to life.
A look into the role
As a Financial Reporting & Accounting Executive within our team, you will:
Work independently, aiming for the highest standards, to produce quality information for manager review. As we move through our growth phase you must be agile to take on new challenges and new requests which may not have been fulfilled before
Have a focus on ESG reporting which making this a unique and varied role allowing you develop in lots of areas and you will also be involved in different reporting activities covering the routine annual reporting and other adhoc tasks.
You will work with stakeholders across from different internal teams to contribute to our wider ESG reporting
You will be curious about the digital tools available within the firm and you will look to find ways to improve our reporting processes. You will actively question the status quo bringing new ideas and more efficient ways of working. You will help to make change happen.
You will understand the need to adapt and prioritise requests ensuring deadlines are met and stakeholder requests are managed effectively
You will be active in your own development and contribute to other people’s development through collaboration and giving and receiving regular feedback.
Knowing you’re right for us
Joining us as a Financial Reporting & Accounting Executive, the minimum criteria you’ll need is a professional qualification (ACA, ICAS, CA, ACCA or CIPFA, AAT) ideally with post qualification experience, this might be your first step into an industry role. If you have relevant experience but have just started a professional qualification you could be right for the role too. It would be great if you had some of the following skills, but don’t worry if you don’t tick every box, we’ll help you develop along the way.
Advanced Excel and analytical skills
Experience of using Microsoft packages
Experience of using digital solutions to improve processes
An interest in ESG and an understanding of carbon reporting would be desirable but not essential
