The Grant Thornton Advisors (NI) Tax Team is an ambitious and growing team of over 80 specialists, bringing together deep industry, sector and technical expertise. Our Corporation Tax Compliance client base continues to grow significantly, with increasing demand from owner-managed businesses, large groups and internationally active clients. We are therefore seeking a Corporate Tax Executive/Assistant Manager to join our growing team.
As an Executive/Assistant Manager, you will work closely with other members of our Compliance team to deliver high quality services to our clients while developing your own skills and technical capability. Main responsibilities:
- Responsible for the end-to-end delivery of corporation tax compliance engagements, managing day-to-day activity across a defined portfolio.
- Ensures work is completed accurately, on time and in line with internal procedures, supporting Managers on client relationships, technical matters and commercial performance.
- Manage the day-to-day execution of a corporation tax compliance portfolio, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met.
- Coordinate workflow across engagements and monitor progress against budgets and timelines.
- Review work prepared by junior team members for accuracy and completeness prior to Manager review.
- Identify issues arising during delivery and escalate complex or higher-risk matters.
- Act as a day-to-day contact for clients, responding to queries and providing updates.
- Build effective working relationships with client contacts, with oversight from the Manager.
- Ensure client expectations are understood and met in delivery of work.
- Apply strong technical knowledge to deliver high-quality compliance outputs.
- Undertake technical research and propose solutions for review.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of tax legislation and share knowledge within the team.
- Ensure all work complies with firm procedures and engagement requirements.
- Identify potential risk issues and escalate appropriately.
- Support the accurate completion of engagement processes from initiation through to invoicing.
- Provide guidance and on-the-job coaching to junior team members.
- Perform initial review of work and support development through informal feedback.
- Support efficient delivery by managing time and working within agreed budgets.
- Contribute to achieving team utilisation and delivery targets.
Skills and Qualifications:
- ACA (or equivalent) or CTA qualified.
- Relevant experience working in a corporate tax department within a practice environment.
- Strong technical tax knowledge with the ability to apply it effectively to compliance work.
- Good organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Ability to supervise and review the work of junior team members, providing clear and constructive feedback.
- Capable of working on own initiative, with appropriate escalation of complex or higher-risk matters.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships with colleagues and clients.
