At Grant Thornton we do things differently – looking to the future, driving ambitious growth and pioneering positive change in our industry. We provide audit, tax and advisory services, empowering clients through strategic insight and genuine partnership, and we empower our people with real opportunity, an inclusive culture and work‑life balance.

The Information Systems department delivers and supports the IT services the firm relies on daily. Within it, the Service Management team plays a critical role, operating and continuously improving our Service Management System, maintaining the ISO 20000 certification and contributing to the upkeep of ISO 27001 certification.

The Governance Analyst sits within the Service Management team and works closely with colleagues across Information Systems and the wider firm. The role is the single point of ownership for governance that keeps our Service Management System honest and audit‑ready across risk, service continuity, improvement, and responses to both internal and external audits. It also oversees the two repositories the firm relies on for help and technical information about our services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and run the firm’s risk management cycle for the Service Management System and Information Security Management System, maintaining the risk register and leading regular risk reviews.
  • Plan and run service continuity testing, ensuring the team knows how to respond if a key service is lost and that lessons are captured and acted on.
  • Drive improvement actions from raised to closed, keeping the improvement register current and chasing actions through to completion.
  • Lead internal audit activity for the Service Management System, including scheduling and following up on findings.
  • Help organise the team’s response to external audits, including the ISO 20000 surveillance cycle.
  • Act as custodian of our two information repositories – Systems Solutions (customer self‑help) and Service Information (technical documentation about services) – owning their structure, quality standards, and review cycle while the content is authorised by the knowledge‑holding teams.
  • Work with AI tooling, including Claude, to reduce manual effort in governance work, drafting first‑cut risk updates and flagging stale or missing repository content for review.
  • Communicate clearly with colleagues at all levels, from technical specialists to senior stakeholders, and embed a culture of evidence, improvement and good governance across the team.

What You’ll Need

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, a methodical and well‑organised approach with close attention to detail, the ability to drive activities and actions through to completion across non‑reporting people, and a willingness to use AI tooling such as Claude to work more efficiently.

Additional Skills (Nice to Have)

  • Experience in a governance, risk, audit, compliance or quality role, ideally within IT or a regulated environment.
  • Working knowledge of management system standards such as ISO 20000 or ISO 27001, and ITIL practices.
  • Experience preparing for or responding to internal or external audits, including assembling evidence.
  • Experience maintaining documentation, knowledge bases or similar repositories, and comfort using AI tools to support day‑to‑day work.

We value uniqueness, build an inclusive culture that respects difference and supports our people to perform at their best. Our flexible working arrangements – including job shares and flexible schedules – help you balance work and life. We support you through various life stages with family‑friendly and expanded leave policies. Beyond the job, you’ll have opportunities for secondments, fundraising for local charities, or investing in entrepreneurs in developing world markets.
