And we empower our people with real opportunity, an inclusive culture and work life balance.

Every day our teams help people in businesses and communities to do what is right and achieve their goals. In a world of increasingly complex tax legislation, tax risk management and governance is on the agenda of a wide range of stakeholders, from Government to Boards of Directors. Our clients need to understand how the evolving tax governance landscape impacts their business.

As a Tax Risk Management Assistant Manager, you will help clients be proactive, improve and provide assurance over the performance of their tax operations, minimising risk both financially and reputationally. Your work in Tax Risk Management will be a combination of helping our clients meet relevant compliance obligations, such as the Senior Accounting Officer and Corporate Criminal Offence regimes, as well as advisory work, supporting clients develop efficient tax controls and processes.

This role offers the unique opportunity to work across a variety of taxes, giving you the broad skills needed to be a tax risk management professional. The constantly evolving landscape calls for an approach that puts what is right first and you will need to push ideas harder and ask difficult questions, giving our clients the assurance they need.

You will be part of our National Tax practice which is comprised of over 15 different teams with over 40 partners, working with clients in various sectors including technology, finance and not-for-profit. Joining the tax service line, you will be passionate about understanding the issues that are important to our clients and their businesses and helping them do what is right. There’ll be challenges along the way, but you’ll be supported and able to meet each one with a solution.

As an Assistant Manager within our Tax Risk Management team you will:

  • Have hands on experience in the different aspects of tax, with a variety of clients and projects.
  • Take ownership for interesting and challenging client work, managing project delivery, being a main point of contact for the client and liaising with them in respect to project work.
  • Have the opportunity to deliver client workshops, with training and support from senior team members.
  • Develop a strong internal and external network.
  • Teach and guide more junior colleagues in the business, supporting them to develop their own skills whilst also enabling you to grow toward more senior roles in the business.
  • Support confidence and ability to manage your own portfolio, including filing deadlines, monitoring budgets, WIP and invoicing.
  • Work closely with colleagues across all taxes, developing excellent communication skills with the ability to interpret complex legislation and deliver strategic solutions.
  • Guide clients through complex UK tax regimes, helping them with everything from developing best in class controls and processes to responding to the requirements of the tax compliance process and informing their risk management.

We’re looking for people who will bring ambition and drive to their role. In changing markets, we need to be able to work at pace and be adaptable to change and to be curious, asking questions of ourselves, each other and our clients to ensure we are delivering the services and quality we expect.

It would be great if you have some of the following, but don’t worry if you don’t tick every box, we will help you develop along the way:

  • ATT (or equivalent) qualification or equivalent level of experience in a related industry (at least 2 years).
  • Excellent written and spoken skills.
  • Exceptional listening skills, and the ability to translate complex technical detail into descriptions understandable by non-tax professionals.
  • A willingness and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Good knowledge of Word and Excel.
