As an Assistant Manager within Public Sector Assurance, as part of our assurance and project delivery pool of resources, you will:
- Help us to make a difference to our public sector clients supporting them to deliver modern public services that are sustainable, people‑centred, data‑driven and digitally enabled.
- Be part of an exciting client engagement team supporting across our sectors (Local government, Health, Central Government and arms‑length bodies) and capabilities, developing analytical skills, insights, and wider assurance expertise with each engagement.
- Develop sector and technical knowledge and apply this in the context of real and complex client scenarios, bringing a unique perspective that is valued.
- Be pivotal in the delivery of engagements with unparalleled insight into our clients' challenges, regularly liaising with senior stakeholders within our clients.
- Actively listen to others and ask searching questions that challenge thinking beyond immediate concerns and present innovative solutions.
- Identify, suggest and drive practice development initiatives—be that internal business development, external marketing, or continuing improvement of our range of services—to ensure you are a key part of our growing practice.
- Take personal responsibility and pride towards high quality of assigned deliverables, whilst demonstrating excellent time management and communication skills.
- Contribute to positive morale, enthusiasm and entrepreneurial culture within the team.
- Demonstrate understanding of services and capability of Public Sector Assurance and Public Sector Consulting, as well as Grant Thornton in order to effectively support clients outside of your subject area.
Qualifications
- Professional qualification (ACA, ICAS, CA, ACCA or CIPFA) – other professional qualifications will be considered if appropriate.
- Extensive experience of using Microsoft Office applications, especially PowerPoint and Excel.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, across a variety of media.
- Ability to use a framework and methodology‑driven approach to identify root causes, propose appropriate responses and deliver solutions.
- Understanding of and interest in working in the public sector.
- Ability to carry out robust analysis and interpret the outcomes.
- Commercial and strategic thinking to propose new solutions to clients.
- Ability to work with and influence senior stakeholders and demonstrate empathy.
- Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.
