Providing audit, tax and advisory services, we empower clients through strategic insight, curiosity, and genuine partnership. And we empower our people with real opportunity, an inclusive culture and work life balance.
Are you looking to build your career in audit quality and play a genuine part in how our firm delivers assurance? If so, here’s what it’s like working in Audit Quality at Grant Thornton.
Our Audit Quality team supports the design, implementation and operation of the firm’s System of Quality Management (SoQM), in line with ISQM (UK) 1. Working closely with the Audit Director and the wider audit practice, the team embeds a strong quality culture, runs monitoring activity, and keeps the firm’s quality documentation current and audit ready.
We’re looking for an Assistant Manager to support the day-to-day operation of the SoQM, working under the direction of the Manager and Audit Director. This is a delivery focused role with genuine variety, spanning monitoring and testing, documentation, and day-to-day support to audit teams, with a clear development path into more senior quality management positions.
A look into the role:
- Support the ongoing operation of the firm’s System of Quality Management in line with ISQM (UK) 1 requirements
- Help embed a culture of audit quality across the practice through guidance, communication and training activity
- Support the Manager in maintaining quality objectives, risk assessments and responses across the components of the SoQM
- Carry out monitoring activities, including testing and root cause analysis, and help track remediation actions through to completion
- Prepare and maintain documentation evidencing the design, implementation and operation of the SoQM
- Act as a first point of contact for audit teams on day-to-day quality management queries and ISQM (UK) 1 compliance
- Support engagement with internal stakeholders across the audit practice
- Help prepare for internal and external quality reviews and inspections, including collating evidence and draft responses
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of firm policies, methodologies and tools that support audit quality
- Prepare draft reports and analysis summarising monitoring outcomes and remediation progress, for review by the Manager
- Support continuous improvement activity within the SoQM, including alignment with digital tools and process changes
Knowing you’re right for us:
Joining us as an Assistant Manager, the minimum criteria you’ll need is a professional qualification (ACA / ACCA or equivalent), or to be in the final stages of qualifying, along with some experience in an Audit or Internal Audit environment. It would be great if you had some of the following skills, but don’t worry if you don’t tick every box, we’ll help you develop along the way.
- Ability to work effectively with a range of stakeholders and contribute to cross-functional initiatives
- Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly
- Organised and analytical, with strong attention to detail and a focus on continuous improvement
- Working knowledge of ISQM (UK) 1 and UK auditing standards
- Technical knowledge of UK GAAP, IFRS and ethical standards
