We successfully advised on and completed some of the largest transactions in the region, and have led the way in the fast growing area of Employee Ownership Trust transactions. We are seeing and involved in an increasing number of private equity deals and we expect this trend to continue. It is an incredibly exciting time for the firm as a whole. We very recently agreed a merger with Grant Thornton USA in a deal backed by New Mountain Capital, the first of the large firms to do this. It will be transformational and create massive opportunities for our staff and teams.

We are seeking to recruit a talented, ambitious leader to join our team as Director in Belfast to build on our continuing momentum and seize the significant opportunities ahead.

Role description and expectation:

As Director, you will use your technical knowledge and experience to lead transaction processes and diligence assignments and play an active role supporting the firm’s Partners in developing new business. You will have direct responsibility for a team of Executives and Managers, guiding and mentoring team members to achieve agreed objectives. This is a leadership role within our team that provides an opportunity to become a key part of the business at a pivotal moment and will offer attractive career development and progression opportunities. You will work with senior colleagues across the island of Ireland as well as Grant Thornton International, our global network.

The Deal Advisory team in Grant Thornton has extensive experience in all aspects of corporate finance including lead M&A, due diligence and transaction advisory, valuations, debt and equity fundraising and business planning to many leading corporates, private equity firms and business owners.

Main responsibilities will include some or all the following:

  • Autonomy to lead projects (with support from Partners), taking responsibility for day-to-day project management, delivery of assignments and successful deal execution.
  • Lead, review and manage the delivery of transaction documentation and client proposals.
  • Direct, manage and mentor colleagues, support staff, external advisers and other parties.
  • Oversee, review and input to financial analysis, deal structuring, and financial modelling performed by team members.
  • Actively manage and maintain client relationships, leading meetings and pitches, and providing robust strategic and commercial advice.
  • Be proactive in building relationships and responsible for areas of origination and business development.
  • Lead the client teams, delegating tasks, and making sure all elements of execution including administrative aspects such as relationship checks, engagement letters, billing and collecting fees are effective.
