This is an amazing opportunity to take the lead in shaping and driving business development for a fast‑growing R&D Tax practice within Grant Thornton Ireland. You’ll sit at the centre of a high‑growth area of the firm, working with senior tax leaders to build momentum, deepen market presence and convert opportunity into sustainable growth. You’ll have the platform, visibility and support to make a genuine impact — combining hands‑on business development with the chance to influence strategy, build relationships across the firm and help position our R&D Tax offering as the go‑to solution for the market across the island of Ireland.

What You’ll Do

  • Spearhead business development activity for our R&D Tax practice, identifying and progressing new opportunities across the market.
  • Work closely with R&D Tax leadership, service line partners and our Marketing team to shape and deliver a focused, growth‑oriented BD approach.
  • Act as a connector across sectors, regions and service lines, unlocking cross‑firm opportunities and driving greater market penetration.
  • Lead conversations with prospective clients, confidently articulating the value of our R&D Tax offering and how it supports innovation and growth.
  • Build trusted relationships with key stakeholders and industry influencers to strengthen Grant Thornton Ireland’s profile in the R&D space.
  • Represent the firm at industry events, conferences and networking forums, helping to expand our market presence and pipeline.
  • Track and share insights on BD activity, pipeline development and outcomes, supporting informed decision‑making and continuous improvement.

Ideal Candidate

To join us as a Business Development Lead, you’ll bring a strong background in B2B business development and a genuine appetite to grow a strategic area of the firm. You may already be operating at Associate Director level or ready to step into a role with greater scope and influence.

  • Proven experience generating and converting new business opportunities in a professional services or similar environment.
  • Strong understanding of lead generation, pipeline management and market development.
  • Confidence engaging senior stakeholders, with excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • A collaborative, relationship‑driven approach, with the ability to work across teams and break down silos.
