Overall role purpose
This is a 14 month FTC cover and is responsible for the financial health of Grant Thornton International. Producing financial reports and developing strategies based on financial research. Guiding senior stakeholders in making sound business decisions in the long and short term. People management and experience of direct reports is required.
Main responsibilities
- The Finance Business partner responsible for the following departments: Operations and projects, Cybersecurity, Technology, Finance and administration teams. Providing monthly and quarterly financial reports and interpreting financial information to senior stakeholders while recommending further courses of action.
- Finance Business Partner responsible for Leap development, SPV and GRD stand-alone projects. Providing monthly financial reports and interpreting financial information to senior stakeholders while recommending further courses of action.
- Provide commentary and support in preparation of monthly income statement and quarterly management reporting pack for Global Leadership Team.
- Gain a thorough understanding of the cost drivers in each area.
- Being able to interpret financial information for non-finance stakeholders to assist them in managing their annual budgets.
- Ability to present and challenge senior stakeholders including the Global COO, Global CIO and functional leaders.
- Work with budget holders to develop financial recharge models for costs to be charged back to Member firms in the network. GTIL acts as a billing agent between vendors and member firms. Ensure recharges are sent out to firms in a timely manner and provide responses to queries as required.
- Microsoft recharge process – ensure timely billing of invoices to member firms, receipt of funds and timely processing of Microsoft invoice to be able to pay Microsoft in line with payment terms. Ensure successful reconciliation of amounts billed to firms versus amounts billed by Microsoft. Close communication with Procurement team re resolution of queries.
- Liaison with Procurement team on various day to day issues more specifically around the purchase order system, resolving queries in a timely manner so that GTIL Finance can process and pay invoices on time. Provide feedback on system enhancements and process improvements which will enable more efficient ways of working. Bi-weekly calls between the two teams to keep on top of issues and resolve them in a timely manner.
- Play a key role in the annual budget and forecasting cycle for GTIL.
- Annual survey – supporting the Finance Director in review of member firm revenue and financial statements submissions. Supporting on the management pack prepared on the consolidated results.
- People management skills – virtually managing my own team and responsible for their personal development, motivation and progression in their roles. Gained more experience with recruitment and supported on the transition away from the GRC.
- Member firm account management – overseeing my team’s management of the member firm accounts, debt collection, responding back to firms’ queries in a timely manner, year-end audit queries.
- Ad-hoc performance reporting between quarters and other analysis for the business or GLT/BAC
- Project focus: support finance team objectives – enhancement of dashboard reporting tool and implementation of online payment platform for member firms.Longer term project: Automation of budget process, including budget submissions uploaded into the finance system
