Role purpose

The Manager will work with the Global head, IFRS and corporate reporting who reports to the Global leader of Service line capabilities and Quality. The role exists to support member firms to focus on quality, global capabilities and an inclusive culture in line with the current global strategy. This individual will play a key role in supporting the establishment, implementation, and monitoring of activities related to cross-service line global strategic priorities, with a particular emphasis on growing our international capabilities and helping to fill any strategic capability gaps.

The Manager, working alongside the Global head of IFRS and corporate reporting, will convene and provide operational support to working groups, and encourage knowledge sharing, experience and best practice across the network. This role offers an excellent opportunity to understand and develop skills to work in a global organisation. It offers the candidate a unique opportunity to learn and gain from practical experience of working with global leaders and gain insights on their thought processes and leadership skills. This role provides an opportunity to work with member firms across the globe on a wide range of projects and initiatives.

The role is virtual, where we are flexible on your location. That means you can work where you live, but you are required to perform the duties and responsibilities of your role on a remote basis across various time zones for project and tasks designated to you. This can include calls that might be early or late in your own time zone.

Main Responsibilities

• Convene and collaborate: Convene and work closely with member firms, specialists, and others to support the execution of strategic priorities that will drive growth in sustainability services across the network and the evaluation of core sustainability methodologies being used by the service lines with an eye on improving quality, efficiency and global consistency.
• Manage the IFRS and sustainability reporting queries helpdesks, working with member firms from the IFRS steering committee and when required, the IFRS Technical Experts Group (ITEG) or the Sustainability reporting technical experts group (SuRTEG) to provide the relevant responses on a timely basis.
• Lead on the development of the annual IFRS publications (eg example financial statements both interim and year-end and Navigating the Changes to IFRS) utilising member firm support where needed.
• Convene member firms involved in the knowledge working group that reports to the IFRS steering committee to produce high quality IFRS publications which also means working with the GTIL design team to ensure consistency and design across any series of publications that are produced.
• Coordinating responses of outreach requests received from both the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) and the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB).
• Working with the various global technical groups (both Sustainability and IFRS) to support the Global head of IFRS and corporate reporting.
• Understand the new sustainability standards and develop appropriate technical resources for member firms.
• Ensure member firms across the network are aware of new IFRS and ISSB standards, and any amendments or interpretations made in relation to them.
• Produce Sustainability Alerts and IFRS Alerts for release to the network on a timely basis, and updating the database of IFRIC agenda decisions.
• Together with the Global head of IFRS and corporate reporting, design and organise agendas for regular steering committee meetings and any of their subgroups.
• Collaborate with relevant GTIL teams to ensure opportunities for international business growth are underpinned by appropriate quality and risk management considerations and processes.
• Support the Global head of IFRS and corporate reporting with developing a formal process to identify high quality and appropriately vetted external providers across the network, to ensure the global strategy is executed efficiently and effectively.
• Promote international and inclusive culture both in day-to-day activities and in convened meetings. Help to encourage collaboration and build trust between member firms.

Person Specification

• Educated to degree level.
• Possess an IFAC accredited accounting qualification such as membership of the ACCA, ICAEW or equivalent national body or the AICPA.
• Significant experience working in assurance services, whether in internal or external facing roles.
• Self-starter with the ability and confidence to develop and implement their own projects and priorities.
• Willingness to attend and facilitate meetings at non-traditional hours, given the global dynamics of the network.
• Ability to work well with people from different disciplines and cultures.
• Ability to work with and support senior leaders to achieve outcomes.
• Strong interpersonal skills, including a collaborative and respectful approach.
• Ability to be agile and respond positively to change and contribute with an innovative mindset.
• Ability to take responsibility and lead work and co-workers to successful outcomes that deliver on global KPIs and objectives.
• Strong written and spoken communication skills. Additional language skills are helpful but being very fluent in English (both written and verbal) is essential.
• Good organisation and time management skills and an ability to manage multiple projects.
• Evidence of a global mindset including an understanding of the external forces impacting our future sustainable growth.
• Confidently facilitate discussions amongst senior leaders for mutual success.

Experience - desirable

• Previous experience of working within a global professional services environment and with international stakeholders.
• Experience in a variety of communication media, including social media.
