About the Role
We are seeking an experienced R&D Technical Lead to play a key role in delivering innovative, high-quality products from concept through to production. As one of several Technical Leads within the R&D function, you will provide technical authority and leadership across multi-disciplinary product development projects, with a strong focus on mechanical design and advanced CAD. This is a hands-on leadership role combining deep engineering expertise with project ownership, cross-functional collaboration, and commercial awareness. You will act as a critical interface between R&D, Operations, Quality, and Production Engineering to ensure robust, manufacturable, and cost-effective solutions.
What You’ll Do
- Lead mechanical design excellence using advanced CAD (SolidWorks or similar)
- Own technical delivery of NPD projects – from early concept to production handover
- Coordinate mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, and test teams
- Drive innovation, risk management, and best-practice engineering
- Act as the key interface between R&D and Production Engineering
- Mentor engineers and influence product and technology direction
What We’re Looking For
- Degree-qualified Mechanical / Mechatronics Engineer (or equivalent experience)
- Proven experience leading complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects
- Strong mechanical design background with complex assemblies
- Excellent CAD capability and structured engineering approach (DFMEA, design reviews, etc.)
- Comfortable working in fast-moving, commercial R&D environments
- Collaborative leader with strong technical judgement
