Eastern Mechanical Contractors is seeking a skilled AC Refrigerant Pipe Fitter to join our commercial HVAC installation team. The ideal candidate will be experienced in fabricating, installing, and brazing refrigerant piping systems for air conditioning and heat pump systems. This role requires precision, technical expertise, and a strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, fit, and braze copper refrigerant piping systems for commercial and industrial HVAC applications.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and piping diagrams to ensure accurate installation.
- Measure, cut, thread, and bend piping using appropriate tools and equipment.
- Test and pressure-check piping systems for leaks and proper operation.
- Install hangers, supports, insulation, and related fittings per design specifications and building codes.
- Work collaboratively with project managers, foremen, and other trades to meet project deadlines.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, following all company and OSHA safety standards.
- Ensure high-quality craftsmanship and adherence to specifications and standards.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; trade or technical school training preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a refrigerant pipe fitter or HVAC installer.
- Strong knowledge of copper piping systems, brazing, and refrigeration principles.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and piping schematics.
- EPA Section 608 Certification (Type II or Universal) preferred.
- Familiarity with codes, standards, and best practices for refrigerant piping installation.
- Must have reliable transportation and a valid driverβs license.
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in elevated or confined spaces as needed.
Preferred Skills
- Experience working with VRF/VRV systems, chillers, and large commercial HVAC installations.
- Certified brazing experience (preferred).
- Proficiency with pressure testing and nitrogen purging procedures.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
