The Tool Crib Coordinator is responsible for maintaining cutting tool inventory across two company locations. This role requires prior machining experience and a strong understanding of cutting tools used in CNC and manual machining environments. The ideal candidate will implement and manage a Min-Max inventory system, ensure tool availability to support production, and maintain accurate inventory records.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate daily operations of the tool crib at two locations
  • Maintain accurate inventory levels of cutting tools, tool holders, inserts, gages, and related consumables
  • Develop, implement, and maintain a Min-Max inventory system to ensure optimal stock levels
  • Monitor tool usage trends and adjust inventory levels accordingly
  • Issue, receive, and track tools and supplies to production personnel
  • Coordinate tool transfers between locations as needed
  • Conduct regular cycle counts and full physical inventories
  • Coordinate with purchasing to reorder tools and negotiate with vendors
  • Research and recommend new tooling solutions to improve efficiency and reduce cost
  • Support machinists with tooling selection and troubleshooting when required
  • Maintain organization, labeling, and cleanliness of tool crib areas
  • Track tool performance and identify cost-saving opportunities
  • Demonstrates responsibility and accountability for creating a professional, safe, and clean environment
  • Demonstrates commitment to teamwork by establishing effective relationships and networks with both managers/directors and staff
  • Abides by GSM Code of Ethics and Business Conduct standards and strictly observes all U.S. and foreign laws and regulations

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • 3+ years of machining experience (CNC preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of cutting tools (carbide inserts, end mills, drills, taps, reamers, tool holders, etc.)
  • Experience managing inventory in a manufacturing environment
  • Proven experience setting up and maintaining a Min-Max inventory system
  • Ability to manage inventory across multiple locations
  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel or similar tracking software
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

Preferred qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a Tool Crib Attendant or Tooling Coordinator
  • Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience
  • Experience working with tooling vendors and outside sales representatives
